The Royal City Curling Club hosted the 2017 BC Junior Curling Championships December 27th – January 1st. The best junior teams from across British Columbia competed for the right to represent BC at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships held January 21-29 in Esquimalt, BC. Congratulations to Team Brown and Team Tardi on their victories!
Team Brown from the Kamloops Curling Club won the women’s side of the championship. Skip Corryn Brown of Kamloops, third Marika Van Osch of Nanaimo, second Dezaray Hawes of Anmore and lead Samantha Fisher of Kamloops defeated Delta Thistle/Royal City Team Daniels in the final to earn their trip to nationals. Marika and Dezaray were part of the 2016 BC team that won silver at nationals.
Team Tardi of the Langley/Royal City Curling Clubs won the men’s side of the championship. Skip Tyler Tardi of Cloverdale, third Sterling Middleton of Burnaby, Second Jordan Tardi of Cloverdale and lead Nicholas Meister of Langley defended their BC title against Victoria Curling Centre’s Team Habkirk in the final.
Royal City was represented well with 6 teams participating. Team Tardi, McCrady, Sato, Kiss and Proctor battled it out on the men’s side while Team Daniels represented for the women. Team Tardi took the gold, McCrady the bronze, and the young Team Sato earned fourth place. Team Daniels won a silver medal.

To the volunteers, thank you for the countless hours of service, this event would not be possible without you! A special thanks to the event co-chairs, Nancy Stagg and Cindy Wenzek, these two stayed on their toes the entire week.
