Not getting emails from RCCC?

The Royal City Curling Club uses MailChimp to send email correspondence to our curlers and members.  Important information like AGM notices are sent via this tool, so it is important that you setup your email client to ensure messages from info@royalcitycc.com arrive in your inbox.

A general best-practice is to add “info@royalcitycc.com” to your email contacts.  This legitimizes emails from RCCC and reduces the probability of emails getting lost in your junk or promotions tab.

If you are a gmail user, you can follow these instructions – moving RCCC emails to your “Primary Tab” will let gmail know they’re important to you.

https://kb.mailchimp.com/delivery/deliverability-research/about-gmail-tabs#Send-Emails-to-the-Primary-Tab

RCCC strives not to fill your inbox with irrelevant information – it’s all about keeping you in the loop!  We will be experimenting with different email formats in the future to hopefully increase the likelihood that you will be able to see our correspondence.

The Royal City Curling Club hosted the 2017 BC Junior Curling Championships December 27th – January 1st. The best junior teams from across British Columbia competed for the right to represent BC at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships held January 21-29 in Esquimalt, BC. Congratulations to Team Brown and Team Tardi on their victories!

Team Brown from the Kamloops Curling Club won the women’s side of the championship. Skip Corryn Brown of Kamloops, third Marika Van Osch of Nanaimo, second Dezaray Hawes of Anmore and lead Samantha Fisher of Kamloops defeated Delta Thistle/Royal City Team Daniels in the final to earn their trip to nationals. Marika and Dezaray were part of the 2016 BC team that won silver at nationals.

Team Tardi of the Langley/Royal City Curling Clubs won the men’s side of the championship. Skip Tyler Tardi of Cloverdale, third Sterling Middleton of Burnaby, Second Jordan Tardi of Cloverdale and lead Nicholas Meister of Langley defended their BC title against Victoria Curling Centre’s Team Habkirk in the final.

Royal City was represented well with 6 teams participating. Team Tardi, McCrady, Sato, Kiss and Proctor battled it out on the men’s side while Team Daniels represented for the women. Team Tardi took the gold, McCrady the bronze, and the young Team Sato earned fourth place. Team Daniels won a silver medal.

Thank you to the participants for the exciting, action-packed curling! Thanks to the Ice Technicians, Mike Merlinger and Ken McArdle for providing championship conditions. To the volunteers, thank you for the countless hours of service, this event would not be possible without you! A special thanks to the event co-chairs, Nancy Stagg and Cindy Wenzek, these two stayed on their toes the entire week.

Good luck to Team Brown and Team Tardi at Nationals! We know you will represent BC well.

Anita Cochrane was an inspirational ambassador of the game competing as a high performance athlete and also a coach. In 2009 she competed for BC in the Mixed National Championships in Nunavut, and won the championships award for sportsmanship. Anita was active in coaching juniors in BC enhancing their skill sets at the provincial playdown level. In October 2010, Anita lost her 8 year battle with breast cancer and will forever be remembered as one of the most kind-hearted spirits who had such a positive impact on those around her. The Royal City Curling Club is honoured to partner with Anita’s family to help make this event a success!
